1. About

a. Who Provides This Service

ChatBB is a government service provided by the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, Barbados (“MIST”).  

The ChatBB technology platform is provided under contract by Amini Corp, a technology service provider.

b. Relationship

When you use ChatBB:

  • You are interacting with a government service.
  • MIST is responsible for this service and for handling your information.
  • Amini Corp provides the technology platform only and processes information only to provide the service to MIST.
  • Your relationship is with MIST, not Amini Corp.

2. Purpose

ChatBB provides general information to the public about government services, procedures, and guidance.

ChatBB does not replace:

  • official publications or notices,
  • direct support from government staff, or
  • professional advice (legal, financial, medical, or other).

3. Users

You may use ChatBB if you:

  • are at least 18 years old, OR
  • are under 18 and have permission or supervision from a parent or legal guardian; MIST may ask for proof, and
  • agree to follow these Terms of Use.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • use the service lawfully and for legitimate purposes,
  • provide accurate information where relevant,
  • verify important information through official channels,
  • be respectful and courteous,
  • follow all applicable laws,
  • not attempt to harm or disrupt the service, and
  • avoid sharing sensitive personal information.

5. Prohibited Use

You must NOT use ChatBB to:

  • submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or unlawful information,
  • attempt to access restricted systems or data,
  • disrupt, overload, or interfere with service operation,
  • introduce malware or malicious content, or
  • undertake or participate in illegal activities.

6. Data Collection

When you use ChatBB, information may be collected including:

  • messages and questions you submit,
  • responses provided to you,
  • information you choose to provide, and
  • technical information about your device and connection.

7. Amini Corp’s Limited Role

Amini Corp:

  • provides only the technology platform for ChatBB,
  • does not determine the purposes for which your information is collected or used,
  • does not use your information for its own independent purposes,
  • processes information only to provide the service to MIST and on MIST’s instructions, and
  • has no direct relationship with you as a user of the service.

8. Data Use

MIST may use your information to:

  • answer your questions,
  • provide government services,
  • process your requests,
  • improve the service,
  • meet legal obligations, and
  • maintain records as required by law.

9. Your Rights

You have rights regarding your information. To exercise these rights, contact MIST using the information in Section 19below.

10. No Official Advice / No Binding Decisions

Information provided through ChatBB:

  • is provided for convenience only,
  • is not official advice, and
  • is not legally binding,

and does not create rights, obligations, or entitlements.

Users should verify critical information through official channels, including https://www.gov.bb.

11. Accuracy

We aim to provide helpful and accurate information. However, we do not guarantee:

  • accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of responses, or
  • error-free operation.

Government policies and procedures may change without notice. Always verify important information through official channels.

12. Service Availability

ChatBB is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We aim to keep it available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or updates. Features may change without notice.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

ChatBB may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for third-party content, security, or privacy practices.

14. Intellectual Property

a. Government Content

  • Government information and content belong to the respective Government Department or authority.
  • You may use information for personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • You must not alter or misrepresent government information.
  • Government publications may be subject to applicable public licensing rules.

b. Technology Platform

  • ChatBB software, design, and technology are owned by Amini Corp and/or its licensors.
  • You receive no ownership rights to the technology platform.
  • You may use the service only as intended.
  • You may not reproduce, reverse engineer, commercialize, or exploit the system without permission, except where permitted by law.

c. Your Messages

  • You retain ownership of the information you provide.
  • By using ChatBB, you grant MIST permission to use your information as described in these Terms and the Privacy Notice.

15. Limitation of Liability

a. MIST Responsibility

MIST is responsible for operating the service and handling information collected through it, subject to the disclaimers and limitations in these Terms.

b. Amini Corp’s Limited Responsibility

Amini Corp is responsible only for:

  • providing and maintaining the technology platform, and
  • maintaining reasonable security measures for the platform.

c. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither MIST nor Amini Corp will be liable for:

  • decisions you make based on ChatBB responses,
  • indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages,
  • service interruptions or technical issues,
  • third-party actions or content,
  • loss of data due to technical failures, or
  • any loss or damages arising from errors, omissions, or service interruptions.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of ChatBB after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Important changes will be communicated through the ChatBB interface and/or official channels.

17. Changes to the Service

MIST may change or discontinue ChatBB at any time. Features may be added, modified, or removed. We will try to provide notice of significant changes where reasonably possible.

18. Termination

You may stop using ChatBB at any time.

MIST may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if you:

  • violate these Terms,
  • misuse the service, or
  • engage in prohibited activities.

Amini Corp may take reasonable technical measures to protect the platform and may restrict access as directed by MIST or where necessary for security.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Notice, constitute the complete agreement for using this service.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

22. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Barbados.

23. No Waiver

Failure to enforce any provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.

24. Consent and Acceptance

By using ChatBB, you confirm that:

  • you have read and understood these Terms of Use,
  • you have read and understood the Privacy Notice,
  • you agree to be bound by these Terms,
  • you are at least 18 years old OR have parental/guardian permission, and
  • you will use the service in accordance with these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use this service.
